The second largest metropolitan area in New York State is Rochester NY. Nathaniel Rochester Major Charles Carrol and Col.William Fitzbugh who purchased the land that later grew into a city. Col Nathaniel Rochester gave his name to the city because he conceived and laid the foundations of Rochester NY .
The roaring pace of industry in Rochester NY earned it the name of the Young Lion of the West. The flourishing Flour industry earned Rochester the name of flour city.
